This device has not come with a 30 pin cable for some time now. I really apologize for the miscommunication. Roy I can’t seem to find a cable for purchase either. Are there any adapters that would work? Apogee Technical Support – CH We have stopped manufacturing this cable since Apple has discontinued this connector some years ago. We have not come across any adapters that work for this.

Unfortunately the one I originally bought had a very peculiar defect: although the sound was clear, it accentuated the noise of the pick attack.

I might have returned it to Amazon right away, except that I thought maybe it was something I was doing wrong; and so I kept trying to work out the problem on my own. I eventually determined that it had to be just a defect in the Apogee JAM itself. I did this by connecting my guitar via another route a Cakewalk USB device and discovering that the annoying click was no longer present in the guitar apps I use on my iPad: Flying Haggis, JamUp, Bias, etc.

Fortunately, the JAM was under warranty and I was able to register on the Apogee web site and submit a request for repair or replacement. They had me ship the JAM to them and they ended up sending me a new one – which works fine.

I tested this out with both the native iPhone camera video app and Filmic Pro. In both cases, the audio was super clean and at the correct levels. Great product. Love the peaking light and level control right on the device.

Simple and effective. Two challenges I have though. There’s no way to mount it on my rig. Also, given that all cables need replacing and backups, I don’t understand why Apogee had to resort to using their own proprietary connector instead of a standard full sized USB plug. This means I can’t simply use quality cables from Apple, but can only use proprietary cables from Apogee.

In the field, if my cable gets lost or messed up, I can’t just buy another locally. Easy to use. Great sound. The Six Plus still has a 3. I am not sure how you go about this otherwise. It has been said that the lightning side of the Apple iPhone photo adapter passes audio.

So maybe you can use the provided USB cable on the photo side, and the Lightning to 3. I would caution users that the latency caused by Bluetooth will not sound good, so a direct cable connection with your phone set to Airplane mode seems to give the best audio quality.

Unfortunately the one I originally bought had a very peculiar defect: although the sound was clear, it accentuated the noise of the pick attack.

I might have returned it to Amazon right away, except that I thought maybe it was something I was doing wrong; and so I kept trying to work out the problem on my own. I eventually determined that it had to be just a defect in the Apogee JAM itself.

I did this by connecting my guitar via another route a Cakewalk USB device and discovering that the annoying click was no longer present in the guitar apps I use on my iPad: Flying Haggis, JamUp, Bias, etc. Fortunately, the JAM was under warranty and I was able to register on the Apogee web site and submit a request for repair or replacement.

They had me ship the JAM to them and they ended up sending me a new one – which works fine. I tested this out with both the native iPhone camera video app and Filmic Pro. In both cases, the audio was super clean and at the correct levels. Great product. Love the peaking light and level control right on the device. Simple and effective. Two challenges I have though.

There’s no way to mount it on my rig. Also, given that all cables need replacing and backups, I don’t understand why Apogee had to resort to using their own proprietary connector instead of a standard full sized USB plug.

Unfortunately the one I originally bought had a very peculiar defect: although the sound was clear, it accentuated the noise of the pick attack.

I might have returned it to Amazon right away, except that I thought maybe it was something I was doing wrong; and so I kept trying to work out the problem on my own. I eventually determined that it had to be just a defect in the Apogee JAM itself. I did this by connecting my guitar via another route a Cakewalk USB device and discovering that the annoying click was no longer present in the guitar apps I use on my iPad: Flying Haggis, JamUp, Bias, etc.

Fortunately, the JAM was under warranty and I was able to register on the Apogee web site and submit a request for repair or replacement. They had me ship the JAM to them and they ended up sending me a new one – which works fine.

I tested this out with both the native iPhone camera video app and Filmic Pro. In both cases, the audio was super clean and at the correct levels. Great product. Love the peaking light and level control right on the device. Simple and effective. Two challenges I have though. There’s no way to mount it on my rig. Also, given that all cables need replacing and backups, I don’t understand why Apogee had to resort to using their own proprietary connector instead of a standard full sized USB plug.
